Literally North Of Little Italy , Nolita is a small village neighborhood in Manhattan, which borders Soho. Since the influx of Yuppies in the 90s, the population is young and trendy, the relaxed atmosphere between hype shop, cozy restaurant in red bricks typical of southern New York and street-art.
A little history
An integral part of Little Italy, the district remained for a long time populated by Italian immigrants who offered it its warm atmosphere still very much alive. There are also coffee terraces like in Europe, something still rare in the city. In the 70s, underground artists took over the place, attracted by the price of real estate still. Things will soon change with the arrival of Wall-Street executives, the famous Yuppies. A mixture of lifestyles and currents of thought that give identity to what is now called Nolita. With an upscale and variegated attendance, independent designers have adopted the district to make it one of the high places of fashion.
A neighborhood with great potential
With her unique, trendy and authentic personality, Nolita is attracting more and more tourists who want to live a different New York. 6800 inhabitants live there, including some celebrities like Moby, the neighborhood lover, the actor Gabriel Byrne or David Bowie who lived there for a long time. A population of executives and artists who protect a certain art of living but which they share each year with more and more tourists since tourist rentals and boutique hotels on a human scale are constantly increasing. Alongside concept stores and vintage boutiques, designers have opened their flagships there. Everlane, a pure fashion player, adored by influencers and stars, hardly needs a physical presence at a time when his site is breaking sales records. However,« Was essential to the development of its brand » . This is the place to be seen . The recent success in April 2018 of the Arjé pop-up store in Nolita has proven that the choice of neighborhood is fundamental for the future of a retail business based on experience and the ephemeral. Their collection sold out in a few days and the buzz that followed, put the flea in the ear to Selfridges, fashion giant, who offered them a corner in their department store. Selfridges rolled out the red carpet in Arjé by offering him a unique hard installation, called « Arjé Pied à Terre » .
